Detailed review

The Wahoo KICKR Core hits the sweet spot between serious pro trainers and hobbyist gear for many Dutch Zwifters. Direct drive means you remove the rear wheel and mount the frame directly — no tyre wear, no slip noise, no calibration hassle. The 1800W max resistance is more than most recreational riders will ever need.

Noise matters in a Dutch flat: 58 dB is whisper-quiet, comparable to a refrigerator. Pair with a trainer mat (Wahoo's own or a cheap Tacx mat) and the downstairs neighbours hear nothing. The ±2% accuracy is plenty for structured training plans; only pure FTP-test fanatics need the pricier KICKR (€1,100, ±1%).

€650 without cassette, or ~€690 with a Shimano 105 12-speed cassette, gets you a trainer that lasts years and fits virtually every modern road bike. Against the Elite Suito-T (€600 with cassette) you win on noise and build quality, lose on compactness.
