The QWIC takes a completely different approach: a Shimano STEPS E6100 motor, a GATES Carbon Drive belt, and an Enviolo continuously variable hub. The result is one of the quietest drivetrains on the Dutch market — no clatter, no oil on your trousers, and a belt that lasts 30,000 km while a chain needs replacing around 5,000 km. The Enviolo shifts continuously without break points, which in stop-and-go city traffic is a real comfort gain.

For the commuter who wants to keep an e-bike for 10+ years, rides in a suit or dress, and hates chain maintenance, the QWIC is the right call. For anyone who wants to be able to limp home within 30 km of anywhere on an unexpected issue — a tyre problem in the Achterhoek, a dead battery on holiday — the Gazelle's ubiquitous dealer network is priceless. QWIC has fewer service points, though the brand is steadily expanding.

For most Dutch commuters we recommend the Gazelle Chamonix T10 HMS, unless you value silence and minimal maintenance and live in a city with a QWIC dealer nearby — in that case the Premium MN8 Belt is worth its €300 premium and then some over a 10-year lifetime.
