Elite Fly Team 750ml
Elite · Ultra-lichte racebidon· €8.00
Our verdict
For the weight-sensitive roadie the lightest 750 ml bottle at €8. Not for MTB bashing.
Detailed review
The Elite Fly was born of Italian WorldTour-peloton obsession: pro teams wanted 750 ml volume without the typical 100-120 g of rivals. Elite's answer is an ultra-thin plastic that weighs just 54 g — almost half a standard sport bottle.
In practice you notice the difference with two bottles aboard on a 100 km gravel ride: 100 g shaved off your bottles is one light helmet less. The soft-plastic build makes squeezing very easy — water flows faster than with stiffer bottles. Fit in standard race cages is good; in tight cages the bottle can deform slightly.
Two downsides: ultra-thin plastic dents faster in crashes, and there's an unmistakable plastic taste for the first weeks. Versus the Tacx Shiva (€5) you save 30 g and get pro-team cred for €3 more; versus the Specialized Purist (€10) you save €2 in the same weight class.
Who is this for?
- Gram-counting roadies
- Long rides with multiple bottles
- Pro-team-inspired road cyclists
What to watch out for
- Not ideal for MTB use where crashes happen
- Plastic taste first weeks — rinse a few times first
