Basil Bold Front
Basil · Voormand met KlickFix· €30.00
Our verdict
For riders who often want the basket loose — markets, shops, taking it indoors — the Basil Bold Front with KlickFix is the practical premium choice. Budget €47 with adapter and rain cover.
Detailed review
The Basil Bold Front is the logical successor to the classic wire basket for anyone who regularly wants to carry the basket inside. The KlickFix system is a German invention by Rixen & Kaul that releases your basket with a single click — handy at the market, the supermarket or when you bring it indoors at night to avoid theft.
With 22 litres of capacity and a sturdy steel frame, it carries up to 8 kg without sagging. That's realistic for a complete Hema shop including lunch and coffee. The universal KlickFix bar adapter fits 22 to 26 mm handlebars, covering virtually every Dutch city and e-bike. Against rivals like the Klickfix Mini-Shopper or KLICKfix Reisenthel, the Bold stands out for its stability: the basket barely shakes over Randstad cobbles.
Two main downsides: the adapter isn't always included by sellers and costs €10 separately, and no rain cover ships in the box. Anyone who rides in the rain — that means everyone in the Netherlands — needs to add the Basil Regenhoes Universal (€7). All-in you land around €47, still a fair price for a premium detachable front basket.
Who is this for?
- City riders who store the basket indoors at night
- Market-goers and supermarket commuters
- Riders who want to prevent opportunistic theft
What to watch out for
- Confirm the KlickFix adapter is included or order separately
- For frequent rainy rides the separate Basil rain cover is essential
