Detailed review
The Urban Proof Recycled Crate is a refreshing answer to the generic supermarket crate Dutch riders used to nick from Albert Heijn. This Dutch brand makes it from 100% recycled HDPE — mostly household plastic waste — and ships it in six cheerful colours. At €20 it undercuts the Basil Cento and outsustainables any generic crate.
Thirty litres fits a standard rear rack perfectly, and the included bungee cords lock it in like a vault. No MIK, no KlickFix — just old-fashioned universality that works on your 1998 Gazelle as well as your new Cortina U4. The side walls keep two plastic bags upright, and the floor handles a six-pack of beer or a litre of oil without flexing.
Honest: plastic plus serious frost plus heavy loads can creak audibly, and without a rain cover your groceries get wet. The bungee mount is no quick-release like MIK, so for city riders who bring the crate indoors nightly this isn't the right pick. For budget- and sustainability-conscious students in Groningen or Tilburg, it's ideal.
Who is this for?

- Sustainability-minded cyclists
- Anyone with a plain rear rack without MIK
What to watch out for
