Knog Blinder 900

Our verdict
Only buy the Knog Blinder 900 if you actually ride off-road or on unlit rural roads where beam shape doesn't matter. For daily city riding, an StVZO light like the Trelock LS 660 is kinder to everyone around you.
Detailed review
The Knog Blinder 900 is a light for people who actually ride off-road, and we have to be honest about that. With 900 lumens in a symmetric round beam, it's an excellent pick for mountain bikers riding evening singletrack in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, Veluwe or Limburg forests — places with no street lighting where you want to see 10 metres ahead on a forest track. But — and this is a big but — this light is not StVZO approved. That means the beam has a round, symmetric spread with no horizontal cut-off, and it throws light straight into oncoming riders' and drivers' eyes. On Dutch public roads that's antisocial, and during a police check you could be warned that permanent bike lighting must meet approval standards.
For daily commuting on lit urban bike paths we therefore do not recommend this Knog — pick the Sigma Aura 80 or Trelock LS 660 above instead. Where the Blinder 900 does excel: sport and adventure. The 900-lumen mode lasts 1.5 hours, enough for an evening singletrack lap. The IP67 rating is the highest in this comparison, meaning fully dust and waterproof including immersion to 1 metre depth.
For Dutch mud and rain season (October to March) that's a serious plus. The integrated USB-A plug at the back is a clever move: you push the whole light directly into a laptop, power bank or wall adapter — no cable to lose. The CNC-machined aluminium body feels solid and the silicone strap mounts to the bars in ten seconds. Note: Knog themselves state the flash modes are not legal in the Netherlands or Germany for permanent lighting; use only steady modes on public roads.
