Sophie van den Berg became a cycling safety specialist after her own e-bike was stolen from the bike parking at Amsterdam Centraal — despite having a lock. Since then, she has immersed herself in everything around bike theft, insurance requirements, ART ratings, and GPS trackers. As editor at Fietsvergelijk, she tests locks, helmets, lights, and anti-theft systems with a sharp eye for Dutch practicality: does it fit in your bike bag? Does it work in the rain? Will your insurer accept it? Sophie lives in Utrecht and cycles daily through the city center, testing products in real-world conditions.
