Maarten de Vries has been cycling across the Netherlands for over 25 years — from his first omafiets in Groningen to his current Bosch-powered commute between Haarlem and Amsterdam. A former bike mechanic turned full-time reviewer, he has tested hundreds of e-bikes on Dutch roads, dikes, and cycle paths. Maarten specializes in motor performance, real-world battery range, and total cost of ownership. He believes a good e-bike review must be honest about limitations — not just list specs. When not testing, he rides gravel through the Veluwe or tinkers in his workshop in Haarlem.
