Quad Lock Bike Mount Kit
Quad Lock · Twistlock· €69.95
Our verdict
The Quad Lock Bike Mount Kit is the best phone mount in this test and the safest pick for anyone who relies on their phone while cycling. Total cost with case and dampener adds up, but for iPhone owners who want to protect their camera module this is by far the smartest investment.
Detailed review
The Quad Lock Bike Mount Kit is built for cyclists who rely on their phone as a serious navigation or data device. Think commuting across Amsterdam using Google Maps, a road cycling ride logging GPS on Strava or Komoot, or a mountain biker following a knooppunten route on rough ground. The twistlock mechanism is dead simple — lay the phone on the mount, twist 90 degrees, and the phone is locked in so securely you can ride it across cobblestones in the Jordaan without a flicker of movement. Quad Lock is the gold standard, but that status comes at a price. You need a dedicated Quad Lock case for your specific model — your existing case will not fit. Add about 30 to 40 euro on top for an iPhone or Samsung case. And if you ride seriously, we strongly recommend the separate Vibration Dampener: Apple itself explicitly warns that high-frequency vibrations from motorcycle and bicycle mounts can permanently damage iPhone optical image stabilization (OIS) and autofocus sensors. Without damping, your camera module literally shakes itself apart on the bricks and cobbles of a typical Dutch city centre.
Compared with universal silicone mounts like the Bone Bike Tie, Quad Lock is in a different league. The Bone is cheap and works without a case, but stretches after a winter and offers no vibration protection. Compared with SP Connect, Quad Lock looks slightly more angular but has a bigger accessory ecosystem: car mounts, stem caps, handlebar clamps, out-front extensions — everything clicks onto the same Quad Lock plate. Compared with Peak Design, Quad Lock is less premium in finish but more widely stocked and proven on millions of bikes worldwide.
For the Dutch cyclist who navigates daily through narrow canal streets in the rain or puts in real kilometres at the weekend, this is the safest investment. Pair the kit with the separate weather cover for autumn and you have a system that lasts for years.
