ABUS Bordo Granit 6000 vs Kryptonite Evolution Mini-7
Comparison 2026 — Bike Locks
Our verdict
The ABUS Bordo 6000 wins this comparison on the factor that matters most to Dutch cyclists: the ART-2 certification. With an overall score of 88 against 78, the gap is convincing, but the Kryptonite Evolution Mini-7 remains a serious option if you're not bound to Dutch insurance requirements. On raw specs the story is more nuanced than the scores suggest. The Kryptonite has a thicker 13 mm hardened steel shackle against the Bordo's 5 mm plate links, and carries the internationally respected Sold Secure Gold rating. In pure bolt-cutter resistance the Mini-7 wins — it's a U-lock from the old school. But the Bordo's folding design gives you 90 cm of length (enough to loop around thick posts and city racks), while the Mini-7's 8.3 cm shackle width is often too tight for a thick Amsterdam pole. The Bordo is also 530 g lighter (1100 vs 1630 g) and ships with a dedicated frame holster.
For e-bikes and speed pedelecs up to €3000, the Bordo 6000 is the logical choice since nearly every Dutch insurer requires ART-2 as a minimum. For a city beater you lock to a rack, or for travel to London or Berlin where Sold Secure dominates, the Mini-7 may actually be more practical.
For most Dutch cyclists we recommend the ABUS Bordo 6000, unless you have no insurance requirement and already have a reliable fixture the short Kryptonite shackle fits around — in that case you save €25 with the Mini-7.
ABUS Bordo Granit 6000
The ABUS Bordo 6000 wins because it carries ART-2 certification and Dutch insurers almost always require that rating for e-bikes above €1500; Kryptonite's Sold Secure Gold isn't universally accepted in the Netherlands.
Kryptonite Evolution Mini-7
The Kryptonite Evolution Mini-7 is €25 cheaper and with its 13 mm shackle objectively offers more bolt-cutter resistance than the Bordo's 5 mm plates — an excellent choice if you don't need ART certification.
