Kickstands
Kickstands for e-bikes and cargo bikes.
5 products
A kickstand seems trivial until your e-bike blows over for the third time at Amsterdam Centraal. Most new city bikes ship with a single-leg stand that works fine for a 14 kg omafiets but is completely inadequate for a 27 kg e-bike or a loaded cargo bike.
The choice is single versus double leg. A single stand (€15-20) is light, folds compact and works for bikes under 20 kg. A double stand (€25-35) has two legs that keep the bike upright even in Beaufort 6+ gusts — essential for e-bikes, speed pedelecs and cargo bikes. You won't notice the difference while riding, but you will when parking.
Important specs: maximum bike weight (note: bike weight, not rider + bike), wheel-size compatibility (24, 26, 28 or 29 inch) and mount position (rear bridge or central frame). Premium options like the Pletscher ESGE Double Leg add a centramatic spring that prevents the stand catching the pedals.

Buying tips
- For e-bikes >22 kg a double-leg stand is essential — a single leg blows over in the first gust.
- Check the maximum allowable weight on the spec sheet — Ursus Jumbo (35 kg) fits most e-bikes, the King (25 kg) doesn't fit the heaviest.
- Wheel size matters — a 28" stand doesn't fit a 26" bike, and vice versa, without adjustable height.
- Wind-exposed NS stations (Amsterdam Centraal, Utrecht CS) are the real test — if you park there, a double-leg stand is non-negotiable.
- For cargo bikes choose a cargo-specific stand like the Steco Easy Stand — regular kickstands don't hold 60+ kg of load stable.
